19 of the Russian's 21 championships have been achieved on hard surfaces

A comeback Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for 882 days with success over Frenchman Moutet in the tournament final.

The athlete, a former top-ranked player, has had a difficult season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and struggles with his serve in particular - resulted in him dropping out of the top ten and finally splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's maiden trophy after the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hard court since spring of 2023.

Victory also means the Russian has achieved twenty-one championships at 21 various events.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a event with my children together, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had failed in his last six title deciders, featuring in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching play style and recurring emotional displays on court had led commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to approach the net and play positively, backed up by an improved serving game.

Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the first set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the concluding five exchanges to go ahead.

The competitors swapped break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, bidding for his first ATP Tour title, took control to create a decider.

The opponent defended 4 early break points in a competitive final set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev clinched victory with a shot at the net, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after a lengthy match.
