Prosecutors have stated that a ex- doctor has been charged with committing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous sexual offences – comprising some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 to 2021.
A deputy chief CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The charges come after what investigators described as a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
