The first track "Sometimes" erupts with flourish, as if a string band caught by surprise, whereas "Born Again Backwards" drastically ups the BPM with a punishing, beautiful, looping percussion. Dense layers of audio, expertly mixed with a long-term collaborator, seem at once gnarly and ethereal, and Walton's dark, enchanted thinking peak on standout "Lambs", a song that momentarily transforms into a twirling dance. "May your life never end in death," she bargains, exuding heart-aching gallows humor.
