The Iberian nations are again dealing with the consequences of extensive flooding after Storm Claudia delivered heavy rain and powerful gusts over the past seven days.

This weather system developed from an area of low pressure that had previously driven unseasonably early freezing temperatures and snowfall through the eastern sectors of Canada and the north-eastern US during the beginning of the eleventh month.

Stormy conditions persisted into the weekend, with a violent whirlwind tearing through a outdoor lodging area and a close-by inn in Albufeira in the south in southern Portugal on Saturday last week, claiming the life of an British woman aged 85 and wounding 28 individuals.
